Betty Crocker recently released their “Top 10  Holiday Recipe Trends” and since I’m a sucker for a new recipe, I took a look. Yum. There are several recipes I’m planning on trying but I knew I had to make the Reindeer Feed as soon as humanly possible. It didn’t disappoint! It was super easy to make {only 3 ingredients!} and I haven’t been able to keep my hand out of the bowl for longer than a few minutes. Dinner shminner…

Instead of using the small candy canes I bought a giant candy cane for .79. I used 1/3 cup and have about 1/4 cup leftover. I also used white chocolate bark in place of the white chocolate chips, only because that’s what I had on hand.

Reindeer Feed

  • 6 cups Rice Chex® or Chocolate Chex® cereal
  • 1 bag (12 oz) white vanilla baking chips (2 cups)
  • 1/3 cup coarsely crushed peppermint candy canes (14 miniature, unwrapped)

1. Line cookie sheet with foil or waxed paper. {I just put wax paper on the counter top.} Place cereal in large bowl.

2. In microwavable bowl, microwave white vanilla baking chips uncovered on high about 1 minute 30 seconds, stirring every 30 seconds, until chips can be stirred smooth. Stir in half the crushed peppermint candy.

3. Pour over cereal; toss to evenly coat. Spread mixture in single layer on cookie sheet. Immediately sprinkle with remaining candy. Let stand until set, about 20 minutes. Gently break up coated cereal. Store in airtight container.

My sister's name is Jessica Williams – seeing your name threw me off for a second! Anyway, this sounds great! I might try it with regular chocolate chips, though, since I'm not a huge fan of white chocolate. Thanks for sharing!

Unbelievably easy! I made 2 batches in no time. OMG and so good. As for the crushing the candy canes, I used the soft kind and they worked fine. Much easier to crush than the hard candy canes or candies.

I made 2 batches of this. One with white chocolate chips, the other with regular chocolate chips. Both are to die for! However, next time I think I will add at least 1/2 cup of crushed peppermint, instead of 1/3, to make it a little more minty.

I tried this two times. The first was an epic fail, the second I made 2 tweaks and it was awesome. The first time the chips went from semi melt to burnt in about 10 seconds. The second time I did the white chocolate melts in a large saucepan on the stove. It took about 30 secs on medium heat for them to melt, i removed it from the heat and stirred in the mint and cereal, then I laid it out on the

Just found your blog & am excited to keep looking around! I've made this for awhile but I use the Chocolate Chex cereal instead of the Rice.
