Orange Cheesecake Brownies made with a delicious orange cheesecake layer that is swirled with a simple brownie mix. The orange and chocolate combination is absolutely incredible!
Orange Cheesecake Brownies is one of those desserts that looks really fancy and impressive, but only takes a few minutes to make. I have always loved the orange/chocolate flavor combination and I also love brownies and cheesecake, so when I found this recipe that combined all of that yumminess in one dessert, I knew I had to try it! The results are just about as amazing as I predicted and they are actually very simple to make as well!
What type of brownie mix to use?
Any type of brownie mix works well in this recipe – just make sure that it is for an 8X8 or 9X9 pan. If you want to make more brownies, you can use a larger mix (made for a 9X13 pan), but you will need to double the amount of cheesecake filling as well. If you have a favorite brownie recipe, you can also make the brownie part of the recipe from scratch if you prefer.
Ingredients in Orange Cheesecake Brownies
- 1 box brownie mix (for 8X8 or 9X9 pan)
- egg(s), water and oil as required on box
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp orange zest
- 1 Tbsp flour
How to make Orange Cheesecake Brownies
Mix brownie mix with egg, water and oil as directed on package instructions. Line an 8-inch square pan with foil and lightly grease the foil with cooking spray. Reserve 1/2 cup of the brownie batter and set aside. Pour the remaining brownie batter into the prepared pan.
To make the cheesecake layer, beat the cream cheese and sugar with an electric mixer until smooth. Add the egg, orange zest and flour and mix until smooth. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the brownie batter. Drop the remaining 1/2 cup brownie batter by the tablespoon on the top of the cheesecake layer. Swirl with a knife to create marbling. Bake at 325° for about 45 minutes. Let cool completely in pan on a wire rack. Cover and refrigerate until completely chilled, about 3-4 hours.
To serve, lift the foil out of the pan and then cut into squares. Enjoy!
(If you want to add a little more orange flavor, you can replace some of the water in the brownie batter with freshly squeezed juice from the orange that you use for the zest.)

CAN YOU FREEZE BROWNIES?
Yes you can freeze brownies for up to 3-4 months. There are several ways you can freeze them. Just remember, the better you package them before freezing, the longer they last! If you simply want a quick option, you can freeze individually cut brownies in small sandwich bags or in a large ziplock bag. Brownies frozen in baggies like this should generally be eaten within a month. For longer freezes, you’ll want to double package brownies. I like to first wrap the brownies in foil, making sure you fold over so that no part of any brownie is left exposed to air. Then take the foil package and either wrap it again in foil, or place it in a ziplock freezer bag. Brownies frozen with a double wrapping will last 3-4 months, especially if you freeze them in a deep freeze.
